Health Insurance

Health insurance is an important product for consumers to have. Without health insurance, medical costs can quickly become very expensive for those who experience an accident injury or are diagnosed with a medical condition.

Unfortunately, consumers and business owners alike are sometimes overwhelmed in the search for an appropriate health insurance plan. Health insurance can be a complicated product, and there are many types of health insurance out there to consider.

While those living in California are not required by law to have health insurance, health insurance coverage is still important to have. The following are a few insurance options that you can consider if you're currently uninsured.

Preferred Provider Organizations (PPOs)

A preferred provider organization plan refers to a type of group policy that covers treatment through a network of hospitals and doctors. Those on this plan don't necessarily have to go to medical care providers on this network, but care is typically less expensive when provided by those on this network.

PPO plans typically have an annual deductible. Insured individuals need to pay this deductible before coverage from their health insurance kicks in.

Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) plans

An HMO plan is also a group health insurance plan. An HMO plan offers the benefit to policyholders of having to pay less money out-of-pocket when they need treatment. However, policyholders don't typically have a great deal of freedom to choose what health care provider they go to. In fact, they may be required to get care entirely from a particular provider(s) on many HMO plans.

Health Savings Account (HSA) plans

HSA plans can be used by individuals who cannot afford the costs of the two types of group plans mentioned above. A typical HSA plan involves setting funds aside in a savings account to cover medical costs. This account is generally combined with high deductible health insurance coverage.
